Center for the Arts

$25,000,000

Funding Goal

Designed to integrate the visual and performing arts, the new Center for the Arts will become a beacon of sight and sound for our students and an arts resource for the entire community. Located on our Portland campus, the Center will include state-of-the-art spaces for the arts in every form, from music, dance, and theater to visual arts and interdisciplinary exhibitions and performances.

Grit & Passion

The dream of creating a new home for USM’s prestigious and newly named Dr. Alfred and D. Suzi Osher School of Music has been decades in the making. The Center represents a much-needed, purpose-built facility that meets today’s standards for top-ranked music schools. It will serve as a fitting home for the Kate Cheney Chappell ’83 Center for Book Arts and provide a unique gallery space for both local and national exhibitions.

Vision

Prominently located at the heart of the academic quad on the Portland campus, the Center for the Arts facility will match the exceptional caliber of USM’s Osher School of Music, a signature program of excellence at USM, while opening new opportunities for visual arts integration and community collaboration.
